Polymorphic behavior in protein-surfactant mixtures: The water-bovine serum albumin-sodium taurodeoxycholate system
Article Abstract:
Mixtures containing water, bovine serum albumin (BSA) and sodium taurodeoxycholate (NaTDC) component of the bile in mammals were investigated in wide range of composition and pH. A gel phase was determined and the precipitate region was seen whose width increases by lowering the pH of the medium and a remarkable stabilizing effect of the gel structure was seen on the thermal stability.

On the interaction of sodium dodecyl sulfate with oligomers of poly(ethylene glycon) in aqueous solution
Article Abstract:
Isothermal calorimetric titrations of aqueous solutions of poly(ethylene glycon) (PEG) with sodium dedecylsulfate (SDS) are known to exhibit a peculiar trend consisting of endothermic and exothermic effects. The behavior was explained with the formation of two different mixed micellar aggregates, one characterized by hydrophobic interactions and the second by ion-dipole association.

Thermodynamics of the interaction between a hydrophobically modified polyelectrolyte and sodium dodecyl sulfate in aqueous solution
Article Abstract:
The interaction between a hydrophobically modified cations polyelectrolyte and SDS is investigated by microcalorimetry, conductivity, and UV- vis spectrophotometry. An extension of this work is in progress, where the effect of changing the length of the hydrophobic alkyl chains of the surfactant and the polyelectrolyte on the interaction of the mixed system is investigated.
