Experimental and computational studies of trialkylaluminium and alkylaluminium chloride reactions with silica
Article Abstract:
Reactions of trimethylaluminium, triethylaluminium, and diethylaluminium chloride and ethylaluminium dichloride with silica gel are studied experimentally by infrared spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Infrared spectroscopic studies of the silica gels after reaction indicate that all non-hydrogen-bonded silanols are reacted by all of the reactants under the conditions studied.

Evidence for two Geminate rebinding states following laser photolysis of R state hemoglobin encapsulated in wet silica gels
Article Abstract:
The first experimental evidence for CO rebinding to human hemoglobin from multiple geminate states is reported. It is suggested that the presence of at least two distinct docking sites for the photolyzed ligand is necessary, and by assuming a minimal four state model the microscopic rates and the activation energies for the elementary processes are estimated.
