Potential-dependent sum frequency generation study of 5-methylbenzotriazole on polycrystalline copper, platinum, and gold
Article Abstract:
In situ sum frequency generation vibrational spectroscopy was performed at varied potentials and polarization combinations on polycrystalline copper, platinum and gold samples in 0.5M HCl[O.sub.4] with 50mM 5-methylbenzotriazole 5-methylBTAH added. For copper surfaces orientation of the molecule on the surface was not affected by potential within the potential window studied and sum frequency generation spectra of 5-methyBTAH on platinum show a change in orientation over the potential range studied.

Structure, wrinkling, and reversibility of Langmuir monolayers of gold nanoparticles
Article Abstract:
The structure of Langmuir monolayers of dodecanethiol-ligated gold nanoparticles is characterized with in situ optical microscopy and X-ray scattering. It is shown that Langmuir monolayers of highly mono-disperse gold nanoparticles adopt a hexagonal packing symmetry where the interparticle spacing depends primarily upon thiol concentration.
