Realization of a particle-in-a-box: Electron in an Atomic Pd Chain

Article Abstract:

Well-defined Pd chains are assembled from single atoms on a NiAl(110) surface with the tip of a scanning tunneling microscope and spatially resolved conductance measurements are used to determine their electronic properties. The particle-in-a-box states in Pd chains display higher onset energy and larger effective mass than those in Au chains and the intrinsic widths and spectral intensities of Pd induced states provide information on lifetime and spatial localization of states in the atomic chain.

Building alloys from single atoms: Au-Pd chains on NiAl(110)

Article Abstract:

The study assembles a well-ordered mono-elemental and alloy chains for a single Au and Pd atoms on a NiAl(110) surface with a scanning tunneling microscope. The results demonstrate the effective hybridization of Au and Pd induced states to a delocalized electronic system, in correspondence with the perfect miscibility of the respective bulk materials.

Magnetic and electronic properties of palladium nanoparticles coated with pi-conjugated tetrathiafulvalenes derivative

Article Abstract:

Magnetic and electronic properties are investigated for Pd nanoparticles coated with a TTF-derivative (EDT-TTF(SCH3)(SC10H20SH)) and octadecanethiol organic mixed monolayer. The temperature-independent spin susceptibility and spin concentration of Pd decrease upon the increasing proportion of the TTF-derivative in the organic layer.
