Redox processes of cytochrome c immobilized on solid supported polyelectrolyte multilayers
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted of the heme protein cytochrome c (Cyt-c), immobilized on polyelectrolyte multilayers on a silver elelctrode by stationary and time-resolved surface-enhanced resonance Raman (SERR) spectroscopy to probe the redox site structure and the mechanism and dynamics of the potential-dependent interfacial processes. Cyt-c can effectively compete with polyallylamine hydrochloride (PAH) for binding of poly(styrene sulfonate) (PSS), resulting in a rearrangement of the layered structure and penetration of the PSS-bound Cyt-c into the PAH/PSS double layers.

Heterogeneous electron transfer of cytochrome c on coated silver electrodes. Electric field effects on structure and redox potential
Article Abstract:
Electric field effects on the redox process of cytochrome-c (Cyt-c) that is electrostatically bound to electrodes covered with self-assembled monolayers (SAM) of carboxyl-terminated alkanethiols, redox equilibria and structural changes of the adsorbed Cyt-c are examined using surface-enhanced resonance Raman (SERR) spectroscopy. Results suggest that an ideal Nernstian behavior is revealed by the naive conformational state B.

Peripheral and integral binding of cytochrome c to phospholipids vesicles
Article Abstract:
The interaction of ferric cytochrome c (Cyt-c) withdioleoyl-phosphatidylglycerol (DOPG) at low ionic strength was studied to monitor the structural changes of the liposomes and the protein upon complex formation. The viscosity and turbidity measurements and resonance Raman, circular dichroism, and UV-vis absorption spectroscopy was used to conduct the analysis.
