Relationship between structures and photocurrent generation properties in a series of hemicyanine congeners
Article Abstract:
The correlation between molecular structures and photocurrent generation properties in a series of hemacyanine derivatives was investigated. Four hemacyanine congeners were synthesized and their LB film modified ITO electrodes were tested for this purpose. The effect of saturation degree of O2 or N2, applied bias voltage and addition of electron donors and acceptors on photocurrent generation of the selected hemacyanine was also examined. Experimental results showed that the molecular polarity plays a major role in the quantum yield of photocurrent generation in hemacyanine congeners.

Light-induced electron transfer on a trichromophore dye modified ITO electrode
Article Abstract:
A unique trichromophore amphiphilic dye N-methyl-2,4,6-tri(4-dioctadecylamino)stibazolium iodide was synthesized and transferred on semiconducting transparent indium-tin oxide electrodes by a Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) method. Photocurrent production was investigated in a conventional photoelectrochemical cell. An action spectrum of the photocurrent generation was coincident with the absorption spectrum of the LB film-modified electrode, suggesting that the dye aggregate in the LB film is responsible for the photocurrent.

Enhancement of second-harmonic response and photocurrent generation from a benzothiazolium styryl dye LB film through an interfacial self-assembly reaction
Article Abstract:
HgCl(sub 2) acts as a bridge to connect two dye molecules through coordination bonding between S and Hg atoms. Noticeable increase in the quantum yield of photoelectric conversion and second-harmonic generation are noticed.
