Shot-noise limited single-molecule FRET histograms: Comparison between theory and experiments
Article Abstract:
A simple approach and a straightforward numerical algorithm to compute the best fit shot-noise limited proximity ratio histogram (PRH) in single-molecule fluorescence resonant energy transfer diffusion experiments are presented. Results reveal the way the use of an alternated laser excitation scheme and a correspondingly optimized burst search algorithm eliminates several potential artifacts affecting the calculation of the best fit shot-noise limited PRH.

Effect of ions on the polymorphism, effect charge, and stability of human telomeric DNA. Photon correlation spectroscopy and circular dichronism studies
Article Abstract:
Photon correlation spectroscopy (PCS) and circular dichroism (CD) are used to study the effect of different ions on the formation and behavior of quadruplex structures of the human telomere sequence d(TTAGGG)(Sub 4). The PCS results obtained in the presence of Na(super +) and K(super +) indicated the presence of only one collective diffusion mode, which allowed detailed analysis of intermolecular interactions.

Photon arrival-time interval distribution (PAID): a novel tool for analyzing molecular interactions
Article Abstract:
Photon arrival-time interval distribution (PAID) analysis is a new method designed for monitoring macromolecular interactions. The studies of EscherichiaDNA coli RNA-polymerase-DNA interactions reveal the ability of PAID to analyze the complex mixtures expected in monitoring of macromolecular interactions.
