Solvation dynamics of DCM in a DPPC vesicle entrapped in a sodium silicate derived sol-gel matrix
Article Abstract:
The solvation dynamics of 4-(dicyanomethylene)-2methyl-6(p-dimethylaminostyryl) 4H-pyran (DCM) inside a dipalmitoyl-phosphatidyaholine (DPPC) entrapped sodium silicate sol-gel matrix is different from that in DPPC lipid vesicles in bulk water or DMPC entrapped in a tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) derived sol-gel matrix. The anisotropy decay of DCM in DPPC vesicles in bulk water and sol-gel glass is strongly biexponential.

Uracil adsorbed on Si (001): structure and energetic
Article Abstract:
The adsorption of uracil on the Si (001) surface was investigated by density-functional theory calculations using a plane-wave basis in conjunction with ultrasoft pseudopotentials. It is found that among the structures investigated, the oxygen insertion into Si surface dimmers is energetically most favored.
