Surface-enhanced fluorescence of fluorescein-labeled oligonucleotides capped on silver nanoparticles
Article Abstract:
Tiopronin monolayer-protected silver nanoparticles with different core sizes were prepared by using different mole ratios of silver nitrate/tiopronin. Ligands on the silver particles were partially displaced by fluorescein-labeled single-stranded oligonucleotides or their complementary unlabeled oligonucleotides through ligand exchange and the fluorophores on silver particles showed a surface-enhanced fluorescence dependent on the size of metallic cores.

Effects of sample thickness on the optical properties of surface plasmon-coupled emission
Article Abstract:
The spectral and spatial properties of surface plasmon-coupled emission (SPCE) in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) films of various thicknesses are described. It is concluded that in thin PVA films, SPCE occurs at a single angle in the glass substrate.
