Synthesis, characterization, and structure solution of CIT-5, a new, high-silica, extra-large-pore molecular sieve
Article Abstract:
The syntheses, characterization and structural solution of a new, high-silica, extra-large-pore molecular sieve, CIT-5, are reported. The molecular sieve with 14-ring pores was synthesized at hydrothermal conditions in the presence of N(16)-methylsparteinium and preferably lithium cations. Its structural solution shows that it has one-dimensional pores surrounded by 14 tetrahedral atoms. The symmetry and space group assignment for the structure of Pmn2(sub 1) (no. 31) with refined unit cell parameters of a = 13.6738(8) angstroms, b = 5.0216(3) angstroms and c = 25.4883(7) angstroms were obtained from Rietveld refinement of the synchrotron X-ray powder data.

Theoretical study on silver- and gold-loaded zeolite catalysts: Thermodynamics and IR spectroscopy
Article Abstract:
Density functional calculations were carried out to determine geometries, adsorption energies and vibrational frequencies of NO, [N.sub.2]O, CO, [O.sub.2] and [H.sub.2]O on a model for Ag(I) and Au(I) ion exchanged ZSM-5 catalysts. The results show that both NO and [N.sub.2]O interact more favorably with Au(I) than with Ag(I) and moreover, NO adsorption is thermodynamically less favored on AgZSM-5 than on the CuZSM-5 whereas the adsorption on Au(I) and on CuZSM-5 are comparable.
