Synthesis of gold nano- and microplates in hexagonal liquid crystals
Article Abstract:
Synthesis of single-crystalline gold nano- and microplates with triangular or hexagonal shapes was done by reduction of HAuCl4 in lyotropic liquid crystal (LLC). The LLC provides an ordered structure confining cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as well as the nascent metal nuclei, which enhances the oriented attachment of nuclei and thus the consequent growth of single-crystal plates.

Article Abstract:
Investigation of the ultrafast dynamic s of liquids dispersed in microemulsions to the reactive styrene-dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB)-water system is discussed. It has been observed that dispersed styrene exhibits inhomogeneous dynamics, with a significant component similar to those of the bulk liquid.
