Synthesis of tubular graphite cones through a catalytically thermal reduction route
Article Abstract:
The catalytically thermal reduction route, for the synthesis of tubular graphite cones (TGCs) from the reaction between a mixture of poly(ethylene glycol) and ethylene glycol and magnesium over Fe catalyst, is discussed. Using high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), the hollow cones, which have a shell made up of cylindrical graphite sheets, were observed.

Effect of support and reactant on the yield and structure of carbon growth by chemical vapor deposition
Article Abstract:
An investigation on the effect of catalyst support and reactant on the yield and structure of carbon growth is conducted in the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process. It is stated that the tubular structures were grown by continuous carbon supply directly to the tube, but the fiber structures were grown in a layer-by-layer manner.

Catalyst-nanostructure interaction in the growth of 1-D ZnO nanostructures
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on the interfaces between the catalyst droplet and the nanostructure grow in well-defined mutual crystallographic relationships using Au guided growth of ZnO. The results revealed that the nanostructure defines the crystallographic orientation of the solidifying Au droplet.
