Temperature dependence of kinetic isotope effects for enzymatic carbon-hydrogen bond cleavage
Article Abstract:
The anomalously weak temperature dependence of large kinetic isotope effects (KIEs) is reported which is observed for enzymes that catalyze carbon-hydrogen bond cleavage. The results are used to derive proton transfer distances and promoting-mode force constants from the available data on temperature-dependent isotope effects for several enzymatic reactions effecting CH cleavage, including the reactions of linoleic acid catalyzed by soybean lipoxygenase-1 (SLO1).

Isotope effects on miscibility of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate with butanols
Article Abstract:
The liquid-liquid miscibility temperatures as a function of composition and deuterium substitution are determined for the binary mixtures of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate with 1-butanol, isobutyl alcohol, 2-butanol, and tert-butyl alcohol and their deuterated forms. The isotope shift of upper critical solution temperature (UCST) is found to be associated mainly with the zero-point energy contribution.

Tricritical phenomena in quasi-ternary mixtures of water + n-decane + n-undecane + tert-butanol
Article Abstract:
The refractive indexes in the coexisting liquid phases of the quasi-ternary system of water + n-decane + n-undecane + tert-butanol are reported and the tricritical phenomena discussed through Scott's extended theory. The nonclassical critical amplitude ratio is confirmed to be 4-5% smaller than the classical value, which is consistent with Fisher's prediction.
