The effect of the rigidity of perfluoropolyether surfactant on its behavior at the water/supercritical carbon dioxide interface

Article Abstract:

A series of molecular dynamics simulations to study the perfluoropolyether (PFPE) and polyether (PE) surfactant monolayer at the water/supercritical carbon dioxide interface was performed. The results revealed that the values of intramolecular bonded interaction parameters that are related to chain rigidity determine the monolayer surface pressure.

Formation of water-in-carbon dioxide microemulsions with a cationic surfactant: a small-angle neutron scattering study

Article Abstract:

The formation of a water-in-carbon dioxide microemulsions with a cationic perfluropolyether trimethylammonium acetate surfactant is described. Water and carbon dioxide may be combined to form microemulsions as environmentally benign replacements for organic solvents to dissolve both polar and hydrophobic compounds.

Molecular dynamics simulation studies of polyther and perfluoropolyether surfactant based reverse micelles in supercritical carbon dioxide

Article Abstract:

The structural properties of aqueous reverse micelles in supercritical carbon dioxide are investigated by molecular dynamics simulations. Fluorinated chains are observed to coordinate more carbon dioxide molecules compared to the pure polyether chains.
