Thermal reshaping of gold nanorods in micelles

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the effects of temperature on gold nanorods in micelles supporting a median aspect ratio of 3.3 The temperature dependence of the ratio of the rods in solution were utilized to determine the effects. The absorption spectrum was determined after placing the solution in a thermostat fixed at each temperature range. Results suggested the the temperature effect on the gold nanorod length can be correlated with the thermal instability of the rods or the capping micelles.

Dependence of the enhanced optical scattering efficiency relative to that of absorption for gold metal nanorods on aspect ratio, size, end-cap shape, and medium refractive index

Article Abstract:

The optical extinction, absorption, and scattering efficiencies were calculated as a function of shape definition, aspect ratio, surrounding medium, and material selection. The relative contribution of optical scattering to the total extinction of Au nanorods was found to greatly increase with a slight elongation of the sphere and goes further from spheroid to a cylindrical geometry.

Spectral properties and relaxation dynamics of surface plasmon electronic oscillations in gold and silver nanodots and nanorods

Article Abstract:

Irradiation of gold nanorod solutions with 532 nm laser light brings a rod-to-sphere conversion. Excitation of the longitudinal plasmon absorption at 1064 nm produces only a partial photoannealing process with bent and twisted nanostructures.
