Thermal stability of Humicola insolens cutinase in aqueous SDS
Article Abstract:
A combination of scanning and titration calorimetry is used to investigate the effect of the anionic surfactant sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) on the equilibrium, kinetic and thermal stability of the cutinase from Humicola insolens (HiC). The analysis reveals that the equilibrium stability of HiC is strongly decreased by SDS, as it is highly dependent on the electrostatic repulsion of the increasingly negatively charged HiC-SDS complexes.

Competitive adsorption at the air-water interface from a self-assembling polymer-surfactant mixture
Article Abstract:
The relationship between polymer-surfactant aggregation in bulk fluid and adsorption at the air-water interface is examined in aqueous solutions of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and Luvitec VA 64. The polymer exhibits strong interaction with SDS and significant surface activity, while addition of Luvitec VA 64 to SDS solution at above the critical micelle concentration (cmc) results in an increase in surface tension.
