Visible region polarization spectroscopic studies of template-synthesized gold nanoparticles oriented in polyethylene

Article Abstract:

The polarization spectra of template-synthesized gold nanoparticles oriented in polyethylene were investigated. Experimental results showed that the plasmon resonance extinction bands observed with the incident electric field polarized parallel, perpendicular and at intermediate angles to the direction of friction orientation are in agreement with the long axis of the particles being aligned with gross orientation axis. Furthermore, the degree of linear dichroism increases with the amount of gold deposited in the template synthesis step prior to extraction and orientation.

Synthesis and second-harmonic generation studies of noncentrosymmetric gold nanostructures

Article Abstract:

An electrochemical template synthesis method is used to prepare centro- and noncentrosymmetric gold particle structures in porous anodic alumina hosts. Linear polarization spectra of the gold particle/anodic alumina composites show that both are dichroic under p-polarization for incidence angles theta > 0. A strong linear dichroism is also observed in noncentrosymmetric gold particle pair structures due to the close proximity of spherical and rodlike segments in the porous host.

Synthesis and linear optical properties of nanoscopic gold particle pair structures

Article Abstract:

A modified template synthesis method can be used to prepare a range of nanoparticle pair structures. The average spacing between the members can be controlled, but the distribution of spacings is large.
