Water adsorption on Rh(111) at 20 K: From monomer to bulk amorphous ice
Article Abstract:
The adsorption of water (D2O) molecules on Rh(111) at 20 K was investigated using infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy. With increasing water coverage, monomers aggregate into dimers, large clusters, and two-dimensional islands but further exposure of water molecules leads to the formation of the three-dimensional water islands and finally to a bulk amorphous ice layer.

Highly selective surface Lewis acid-base reaction: trimethylamine on Si(100)c(4*2)
Article Abstract:
Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), valence photoelectron spectroscopy (PES), and high-resolution electron energy spectroscopy (HREELS) are used to study the adsorption of trimethylamine (TMA) on Si(100)c(4*2). The combined STM, PES, and HREELS results indicate that the chemisorption of TMA on Si(100)c(4*2) is selectively on the down dimer atom via dative bonding.

Design and characterization of three-dimensional carbon nanotube foams
Article Abstract:
A new method that makes use of colloidal silica templates is demonstrated to fabricate porous three-dimensional architectures of carbon nanotubes (CNTs). Porous CNT membranes and three-dimensional carbon nanotube foams are obtained by treating these silica-CNTs structures with HF.
