What can you learn from a molecular probe? New insights on the behavior of C343 in homogeneous solutions and AOT reverse micelles
Article Abstract:
The behavior of C343, a common molecular probe used in solvation dynamics experiments, is studied in homogeneous media and in aqueous and nonaqueous reverse micelles (RMs). It is shown that C343 forms stable H-bond complexes with solvents with high ability as H-bond acceptors and ability as H-bond donors and inside RMs, the C343 behavior has depended on the polar solvent encapsulated, revealing the different types of interactions between the solvents and sodium 1,4-bis(2-ethylhexy) sulfosuccinate (AOT).

The effect of the counterion on water mobility in reverse micelles studied by molecular dynamics simulations
Article Abstract:
The mobility and structure of water molecules in Aerosol OT (bis(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate, AOT) reverse micelles with water content w(sub 0) = 5 and Na(super +), K(super +), Cs(super +) counterions are studied with molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. It is found that the interfacial mobility of water molecules is quite different for the three counterion types, but that the core mobility exhibits weak counterion dependence.

An investigation of water dynamics in binary mixtures of water and dimethyl sulfoxide
Article Abstract:
The motion of water molecules in mixtures of water and [d.sub.6]-dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is analyzed through molecular dynamics (MD) simulations using the SPC/E water model. The rotational time correlations of water molecules have behaved in a way that is more consistent with the extended jump rotation model.
