X-ray microscopy studies of protein adsorption on a phase segregated polystyrene/polymethylmethacrylate surface. 2: effect of pH on site preference
Article Abstract:
The adsorption of human serum albumin onto polystyrene (PS) and polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) blend surface from five different pH solutions is studied using x-ray photoemission electron microscopy. Albumin exhibits completely extended (pH 2.0) and a completely contracted (pH 10.0) structures, but at the intermediate stages (pH 4.0) albumin opens some hydrophilic sites and shows preferential adsorption for hydrophilic PMMA.

x(super 2) grating in Ru derivative chromophores incorporated within the PMMA polymer matrices
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to explore x(super 2) grating and associated second-order optical effects in Ru-alkynyl complexes incorporated within the polymer polymethyl methacrylate matrices. The investigated composite possess metastable trapping levels originating both from the d states of Ru and due to the effective charge transfer due to the presence of pi-conjugated states.
