Application of Laser Printers Grows in Office Automation Products
Article Abstract:
The output of information is an important consideration in the development of office automation systems. The laser printer, which is a non-impact printer, contains features, such as flexibility through its multiplicity of functions, high speed, and high quality image reproduction. This printer can be incorporated into three types of office automation environments: text editing, retrieval, and communications. High speed printers are used as central printers for large computers; medium size printers are used with shared-logic word processors; low speed printers are used to reproduce text and graphs. Manufacturers are focusing upon laser printers that offer both reliability and cost savings. Various tables indicate the classifications and features of the laser printer.

Interest Grows in Versatile Ballpoint Pen Printers
Article Abstract:
A ballpoint pen printer consists of a plotter that uses a ballpoint pen as its printing element. This printer is capable of producing any design or character. The operating principle is similar to handwriting. Several factors are responsible for the increased use of these printers: economical price, increased plotting speed, compact size, and multicolor graphic display of computer processed information. These plotters are of a drum or flat-bed type. The ballpoint pen printer can be used in a variety of applications, including a graph calculator and hand-held computers.

Tailoring Serial Printers to the Advancement of Office Automation
Article Abstract:
The printer has become an important part of office automation. It is used to convey and represent information processed by word processors and other terminals. There are a number of printers available on the market: dot-matrix impact printers that are near- letter quality through the use of a multiple pin head; thermal printers that are noiseless and maintenance free; character printers that are low speed printers used by word processors; ink-jet printers that print on most paper. Figure one illustrates the printers according to type.
