As panels slim down, lighten up, PDP makers chase growing market
Article Abstract:
Plasma display panel (PDP) manufacturers keep improving the technology required to gain a larger share of the market. New models have become increasingly thin, lightweight, adapt easily to various applications and capable of multiple-screen displays. The global market for PDPs is expected to reach 125,000 units, which translates to 12 billion yen in 1999. The overall PDP market is projected to total 3 million units, or 100 billion yen, by 2003.
