Fujifilm polishes up performance of pixel-packing digital still cameras

Fuji Photo Film Co. Ltd.'s MX-700 digital camera promises fine-resolution with its 1/1.7-inch CCD of 1.5 million pixels with a square design to effect an excellent pixel arrangement. The camera uses SmartMedia Cards for storage of the images using 2MB to 8MB cards. The works in the Normal, Fine or Basic image modes and has an advanced-performance RISC microprocessor. MX-700's shutter operates at 1/4 to 1/1,000 of a second and its built-in flash adjusts to lighting conditions. Other features include a 2-inch, low-temperature polysilicon LCD panel that provides vivid images of the recorded pictures.

Seiko Epson Corp. offers Colorio Photo CP-600, a digital still camera with a 1.3-million-pixel CCD. The camera, which can easily be connected to a computer or to any Photo Mach Jet color printers, promises power-saving functions to almost double battery life and comes with cable for connection to a PC or a video equipment as well as eight kinds of Colorio software for image editing. CP-600, which measures 144.2 x 69.8 x 49.3 mm, is retailed at 84,800 yen and Seiko hopes to sell 150,000 units in its first year in the market.
