IMI connects with Abalon's SFA

Industri Matematik International Corp (IMI) acquired Sweden-based Abalon AB for $9.5 million. IMI specializes in supply chain management applications, while Abalon makes sales force automation and customer management software. Abalon will become part of IMI's Advanced Supply Chain Execution Suite. Designed to synchronize customer-driven supply- chain activities, the suite is expected to compete with mainstream CRM products. IMI targets firms that specialize in making and distributing products.

Choice acquires

Choice Logistics has acquired the assets of LogisTechs Worldwide Inc (LTI) from Canada-based Dynamex Inc. The deal will give Choice several original equipment market and third-party maintainer clients, as well as the services of LTI founder Paul Malamet, who will assume the position of Business/Product Development Dir at Choice. Choice officials noted that the acquisition will bolster its ability to address the critical parts segment of the information technology logistics market.

Wang goes global

Wang Laboratories Inc will dramatically increase its geographic reach with the $390-million purchase of Milan, Italy-based Olivetti SPA's OLSY, a leader in multivendor services in Europe. Wang, to be officially called Wang Global, will become a $3.6-billion global supplier of desktop and network services. Analysts said that the biggest firms in the US will feel the effect of the acquisition, which is one in a series of outsourcer consolidations in the first quarter of 1998.
