Installing Automation: A Facilities Manager's View
Article Abstract:
When Westinghouse redesigned its headquarters, special attention was given to understanding information needs, introducing technologists and keeping plans flexible. The circuitry must be intricately wired, and budget limits must be considered. The needs should first be identified, then equipment should be selected accordingly. Equipment should be chosen while keeping construction problems in mind. Technologists are needed to oversee the construction of proper lighting, workstations and desks. The electricians, carpenters and technologists must communicate their problems and needs. Because of constantly changing technology, flexibility is a must.

Automation Outlook
Article Abstract:
Twelve years ago the Administrative Management Society offered the first two symposia on word processing. This evolved into the International Word Processing Association (IWP) in 1972. IWP's annual summer conference, called Syntopican, suffered a decline in attendance in 1982. This year IWP broadened the focus of Syntopican to an office automation show, and the conference was successful. IWP has also changed its name to Association for Information Systems Professionals (AISP).
