Article Abstract:
Portable Computers are becoming more popular and sales are expected to increase by 140 per cent every year in this decade. Portable computers are defined as those that are small, light and can be carried. They are divided into three types: transportable, portable and hand held. The transportables were the first to be developed and are available with either 16-bit or 8-bit microprocessors. Briefcase-size portables are small computers with a keyboard, a rechargable power supply, advanced displays, memory and circuitry. Lap-box portables are super-programmable computers. Photographs of models and a chart comparing models is included.
