Intel, help-desk vendors work to reduce support costs

Intel Corp has developed desktop management tools that helpdesk service managers can use reduce support costs. Intel is working with help desk software vendors Vantive, Magic Solutions and Utopia to develop products specific to the implementation of Intel's Desktop Integrator Technology. The companies say that first-line support analysts can solve problems quicker if they integrate Intel's LANDesk product suite of desktop management tools with help desk software.

In addition, the IT support departments of utilities must keep track of spending to better face the challenges posed by new systems, increased competition and lower profit margins.
