Japan's Production of Wired Communication Outlook Advanced 2.2 Percent, to 1,216 Billion Yen
Article Abstract:
The Communication Industries Association of Japan (CIAJ) recently raised its November 1983 forecasts for production of wired communications machines. Forecasts for 1984 were raised two percent to 1,216.1 billion yen. Facsimiles were a major reason, with estimated production increases of almost sixteen percent. Production of specialty telephones and related equipment is expected to be up almost eighteen percent. Switchboards are expected to have the most modest growth, at less than one percent. A table describing the production forecasts is shown.

Communications equipment represents over thirty percent of the industrial electronic equipment market in Japan. Its production grew eighty-two percent over a five year period. Wire communication equipment represents sixty-four percent production and wireless communication equipment represents thirty-six percent production. Products include telephone systems, facsimile and optical communication systems. Charts illustrate the growth of communications equipment.

Wired Communication Equipment Demand May Reach 976 Billion Yen This Year

The Communications Industries Association of Japan (CIAJ) indicates that the demand for wired communication equipment is expected to total $976.3 billion, increasing the initial figure by $5.5 billion. This trend is attributed to an increase in sales of exchanges and telephone applied machines. The sales of equipment such as exchanges, telephones, facsimilies and encoders are expected to increase in the coming years.
