Little Computer Reports Big Benefits
Article Abstract:
A medical laboratory has saved money and boosted productivity with the implementation of a minicomputer for patient billing and insurance form processing. The laboratory had previously used an outside service bureau, but dropped it because of the cost and slow processing. The replacement was two Altos CS 8000's which run MED 2000, a medical software system that sends out bills within twenty-four hours and flags insurance companies for notification. Additionally, the system handles patients records and generates reports which track medical test frequency.
