Mirror images give IT Japan glimpse of future

Texas Instruments Japan Ltd (TI Japan) hopes to make major forays into the projection market with its Digital Micromirror Devices (DMDs), a key component of its Digital Light-Processing (DLP) projection solution. Aside from using DMDs for its own products, TI Japan also provides DMDs to other projector makers such as Sony Corp, NEC Corp, Mitsubishi Electric Corp and Plus Corp. From marketing DMDs for application in single-plate mobile data projectors, TI Japan plans to launch by 2001 a DMD model with the production capability of a 2 kg projector.

Canon starts brisk promotion efforts for high-technology digital cameras

Canon Inc has engaged in an aggressive marketing campaign for its digital camera line called PowerShot S10. The model is equipped with a 2.11- million pixel CCD. PowerShot S10 is marketed as the higher-end models of the A series of standard models. It is one of the smallest models for the 2-million pixel class camera that have zoom capabilities. It combines an advanced-performance 2x zoom lens with excellent operability, portability and fine picture quality.
