Nynex's electronic education cuts lost job time
Article Abstract:
Nynex Corp has replaced 25% to 30% of its traditional instructor led training through the establishment of 16 electronic education centers throughout its operations in New England. A new formula for training delivery was formulated as the process reengineering of the company was initiated in the early 1990s. The idea was to bring trining to the employees which would save Nynex money by reducing lost time on the job. The former IT trainers have become project managers for new distance education training programs that range from using Lotus Notes to digging ditches and laying cable.
