People Probers and Superconclusions
Article Abstract:
Three studies on the relationship of office automation, people, and productivity are reported. The American Productivity Center's survey shows that significant gains in productivity are made through human resource development, automation, and environmental design. Word processing is the single most productive technique. The Kelly Report indicates that the first consideration in selecting an office system is its capability. The report gives data on in-house and manufacturer's training. Though automation is widespread, a surprising amount of work is not done on it. The Verbatim Corp. survey of 1,263 secretaries shows that, as users of electronic equipment, they would like to have more part in the planning. Office tasks are rated on their popularity.
