Return to the Roots at Ricoh
Article Abstract:
The Ricoh Company began with photographic and reproduction equipment. It scored a major success in 1950 with a twin-lens reflex camera. Cameras now only comprise four percent of the company's revenues. The largest revenue comes from copiers (fifty-six percent). Other products are information equipment, optics and semiconductors. Ricoh is the leading copier manufacturer and has successfully entered the small-business computer market. The company is now moving into telex and at the same time has faced strong competition in the copier market. Photographs of Ricoh's production line and its FT 4060 copier, and a table of revenues for 1982-1984 are included.
