Sanyo, Kodak join forces to develop advanced EL passive, active displays

Sanyo Electric Company Ltd and US-based Eastman Kodak co, a maker of photography products, have signed a partnership agreement that calls for the two companies to jointly develop and manufacture highly sophisticated organic electroluminescent (EL) displays. The two companies will jointly develop passive organic EL displays and full-color active matrix organic EL displays that are to be used in digital cameras, cellular phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs). Production of passive displays is expected to begin by the middle of 2000, and full-color active displays by 2001.

Matsushita Graphic Communication Systems Inc. has posted a significant sales increase in the 1st half of 1998 for its Panasonic-brand facsimile equipment. Global sales increased around 10% for the period due to strong US demand for the product. Gains were recorded particularly for Matsushita's Internet faxes, including the B-66 and A715 models. The company seeks sales of 3,000-4,000 units for the Japanese market in the 2nd half of 1998.
