Slim, lightweight, durable 40-inch plasma display built for public spaces

Pioneer Electronic Corp. has unveiled its PDP-V7 plasma screen that is targeted for commercial or public display purposes. The40-inch PDP-V7, the company's first plasma display for industry, has a slim design that makes the unit ideal for places that are not accessible to traditional CRTs and rear-projection cube systems. The system, which Pioneer is also offering for lease to rental operations, uses an improved cell structure technology that enables it to reach a brightness of 400cd per sq-m.

Hitachi harvests trio of plasma displays from joint venture

Fujitsu Hitachi Plasma Display Ltd (FHP), the joint venture created in Apr 1999 by Fujitsu Ltd and Hitachi Ltd, is now offering the CMP401X 41-in XGA display, the CM402HD 42-in Hi-Vision-ready display and the CMP205SX 25-in SXGA display through Hitachi. Weighing 33.5kg, the Hi-Vision display uses the 16:9 aspect ratio common to products utilizing the high-definition format. The SXGA display has a screen aspect ratio of 5:4, while the XGA display has a screen aspect ratio of 4:3.

Fujitsu General Ltd of Japan has introduced its 42-in plasma display panel to the market. Called Plasmavision W, the display provides pin-sharp images in natural color and is compatible with the high definition television format and the advanced high picture quality digital system. Plasmavision W features a high resolution panel of 1,024 x 1,024 pixels in the 16:9 aspect ratio. It can realistically display XGA, SVGA and VGA computer images.
