Video Programming Mushrooms with Movies, Music, Specialties
Article Abstract:
The video software industry is booming. Purchases of videocassette recorders are expected to increase by fifty percent in 1985 after having doubled in 1984. It is now possible for video software makers to show a profit by targeting niche markets. Among the most promising niche markets are non-theatrical programming (comedians and television shows), children's programming, classic movies, music videos, and special-interest programming (exercise, hobbies, sports). The dilemma this creates for retailers is how to stock the number of new specialty titles and draw new customers while keeping their regular customers happy. A photograph of a videocassette display case is included.

Rack Jobbers Playing With Music Video
Article Abstract:
Music video software today is where 45 rpm records were in the 1950's. A relatively untapped market is expected to grow into a multibillion dollar business. Questions such as whether music video is just a fad, and would people really want to own them, especially with the existence of MTV, still remain to be answered seen. The rack jobbers, seeing the success of this market, are moving into it.
