Bright sites big cities
Article Abstract:
Agency.com (www.agency.com), Silicon Reef (www.reef.com) and Digital Planet (www.digitalplanet.com) are three highly successful Web design studios that reflect the spirit of their home cities. Clients of San Francisco-based Silicon Reef, which has never had an employee leave since its founding in 1993, include DHL Worldwide Express, General Motors and Philips Mobile Computing. Manhattan's Agency.com flourishes in the media and finance nexus of New York City. Its clients include GTE, Lehman Brothers and Sun Microsystems. Los Angeles' Digital Planet got its start doing high-profile, low-margin movie sites, but has since moved on to executing sites for the US Postal Service, Warner Bros Home Video and CAA/Intel Media Lab. All three firms eschew technical talk and instead try hard to find out what their clients want from the Web.

Energize your brand
Article Abstract:
The Web is having a positive impact on product branding because companies are now able to add value, offer services and create better relationships with clients. Traditionally, mass-media advertising has been utilized to develop brand equity, but now more firms are beginning to experiment using the Web. However, Web advertising is still in the experimental stages because the Web does not yet qualify as a mass medium; approximately 10% of the US population regularly goes on the Web. Firms seeking to create brand presence on the Web discover that it is quite economical when compared to advertising on television, but it also requires that companies provide support, service and utility. Successful companies are using Web advertising to strengthen customer loyalty, including Clinique and Nintendo.
