A long-awaited prime example
Article Abstract:
A new edition of the (PCC92) Standard Form of Prime Cost Contract was published by the Royal Institute of British Architects in Sep 1992. It replaces the Fixed Fee Form of Prime Cost Contract for Building Works 1967, reissued in 1976. PCC92 is suitable for work carried out on modified JCT81 forms, such as reinstatement work to damaged buildings and certain kinds of refurbishment. PCC92 has better cross referencing, has introduced new terms which have been defined and has paid more attention to grammer. The document has been criticised for its length.

Matching contracts to the method
Article Abstract:
Design and build (D and B) contracts are popular in the UK. Conventional procurement (CP) using a standard form is just as good as D and B. Competitive tenders that use CP can be acquired on a comparable basis not possible with a D and B as each contractor has different work content. CP allows the contractor to negotiate an acceptable price.
