Can USPS learn from auto industry
Article Abstract:
The Postal Service confronts a similar problems faced by the US auto industry in the 1970s. These issues include fewer choices for the delivery of hard-copy messages for consumers and businesses, price increases frequently exceeding the inflation rate for many postal products and a very poor relationship between the postal service and its unionized workers. They also include difficulties in assessing delivery service quality for products other than first-class mail and new competition, which in the postal service's case comes from electronic commerce.
