Communications Technology drives home offices
Article Abstract:
Statistics show that many Americans are conducting their businesses at home either part-time or full-time. This trend opens up a new market in the housing industry to include home offices which can accommodate communications and computer technology. Three of these home offices are presented and they feature amenities of non-residential offices. California architect Barry Berkus' design is derived from the White House Oval Office while Colorado builder Richard Weber includes a wine room and telephone, fax and computer systems. UDC Homes' office has 12-ft ceilings and light-stained maple cabinetry.

Sitting areas: put up your feet in the master suite
Article Abstract:
A New Home Consumer Survey revealed that more home buyers prefer to have a master sitting area in the master suite and some would even convert unused bedrooms in the absence of a master sitting room. This new demand has made builders take note and create innovative designs of this area. Some of these designs include Simonini Builders' Cross Winds custom homes, The Evans Group's sitting room,designed by architect Don Evans and Doyle Wilson Homes' Dior model.
