Downtown living combines style, affordability
Article Abstract:
Longworth Square's Longworth model in Cincinnati won the Best in American Living Award for Best Affordable First-Time-Buyer Home in the Midwest Region for 1993. The housing unit integrates modern living with an architectural style that blends with the historic area. The unit features a brick exterior, metal fencing, stone lintels and brick arches over exterior doors and windows which lend a traditional charm to the three-level row houses. An open interior plan allows light to enter the living areas while the master bedroom on the upper level contains a cathedral ceiling. Two other bedrooms complete the unit.

Bridge separates master suite from other bedrooms
Article Abstract:
The Farmington Farm project in Point of Rocks, MD, won the Best in American Living Award for Best Affordable Move-Up-Buyer Home in the South region for 1993. The design caters to the adult family members' demand for privacy which is evident in the second floor where a bridge separates the master suite from the two other bedrooms. The first floor also reflects this need for adult privacy and features a family area which clearly separates a living room from the kitchen, breakfast nook and dining room. A staircase and columns on the living room entry give the foyer a dramatic touch.
