Creative open floor plan attracts first-time buyers
Article Abstract:
The Village at Liberty Green's George Washington model in St. Louis County, MO, won the Best in American Living Awards for the Midwest Region's Best Affordable First-Time-Buyer Home for 1993. The house features an open plan and high ceilings which give the illusion of space and luxury. The designers maximized the use of space in the 1053 sq ft plan and used a spiral staircase to connect an optional loft to the lower level. The kitchen contains an angled breakfast bar from where the living room can be seen while a nearby patio provides more living space. The house's easy maintenance became its main selling advantage.
