Dealers find their profit in installations
Article Abstract:
Small marine electronics retailers have found that real profits are to be had not in the sales of their equipment but in the chargeable time preparing it for their customers. Bob Hall, for example, says that he is making a good income in customizing customers' GPS chart plotters for a particular cruising area. Marine electronics retailer William Alber says he profits in the long by arranging the installation of new equipment for his customers and showing them how to use it.
