FDX may add surcharge for fuel costs
Article Abstract:
FDX Corp may include a fuel surcharge to its delivery rates due to higher fuel prices. FDX CFO Alan B Graf said increases in fuel expenses could amount to $200 million in FY2000. To make up for the increase in fuel expenses, FDX will impose a freeze on hiring and will cut its capital expenditures from $200 million to $1.75 billion. A price increase by FDX is expected to adversely affect direct marketers and catalog firms.
