Forrester: database gains influence but lacks strategy
Article Abstract:
A report by Forrester Research concludes that database marketing has gained prominence with the allotted budget and influence rising, however the lack of a coordinated enterprise customer contact strategy is the biggest drawback. Though database marketing is gaining influence, a majority of senior executives still consider mass media advertising more important that can be blamed for the lack of effective customer contacts strategy.

Mailers Mull new UPS surcharges, delivery
Article Abstract:
United Parcel Service of America Inc (UPS) of Atlanta, GA, has announced a $1 surcharge on residential ground delivery rates in 22,314 rural 5-digital ZIP codes on top of an average 2.5% incrase in rates. The company also said that residential deliveries will be $1 higher than commercial ground rates. UPS said that the less accessible 5-digit ZIP codes account for 2.5% of its volume. The new rates will take effect on Feb 8, 1999.
