IBM, Exchange Applications join forces

IBM Global Business Intelligence Solutions of Somers, NY, has chosen Exchange Applications as its partner for the DecisionEdge solution series. Debuting in fall 1997, DecisionEdge is a business intelligence solution that uses data-mining and data-warehousing technologies, data-mart software, business-intelligence servers and consulting services to help organizations acquire, generate and retain customers. IBM will use a campaign management program from Exchange Applications called Valex, in the DecisionEdge series. Valex helps create marketing campaigns, identify customer segments and determine how best to reah them, execute campaigns and capture response of each target group.

United Parcel Service of Atlanta, GA, has teamed with Tulsa, OK-based software developer, TanData, to introduce a transport system that will enable shippers to choose the most advantageous way to send mailings and packages, based on cost and timing. Through TanData's Transportation API, catalogers or direct mailers will be able to combine their accounting, warehouse management or electronic commerce systems with the transportation management systems of national and international couriers. The system will be licensed to software developers, who will incorporate it into new or existing applications.
