Golf instructional device set for DRTV

HSN Direct will start testing a long-form infomercial for Toski's Touch, a golf instructional device, in early Apr 2001, with a full-scale rollout planned for early May 2001. The device consists of a strap-on hip or leg pad that measures and corrects golf swings. The infomercial will direct consumers to a toll-free number to buy the $49.95 device, which includes an instructional video. HSN Direct will target males age 20 to 55 ranging from novices to low handicappers.

Rodrex uses DRTV to lure fishermen

Rodrex Inc, a start-up fishing equipment company, will introduce its first product, a car-top fishing rod carrier, through a short-form direct response television (DRTV) campaign that will launch in May 2001. The Boca Raton, FL-based company will launch 60- and 120-second short-form infomercials demonstrating the product's uses. Rodrex decided to use DRTV as a way to achieve relatively inexpensive broad marketing for a product with no name recognition.

Carbite Golf seeks DRTV hole in one

Carbite Golf has slated the launch of an advertising campaign for the promotion of its CAP Series Putters and the Polar Balanced Wedge series in early March 2001. The advertising campaign, which is being handled by Anaheim, CA-based advertising agency Caudill and Associates, will include a long-form infomercial and 30- and 60-second spots. In addition, Carbite plans to launch a print campaign for the said products.
