Harrods sells upscale goods in Europe on CNBC
Article Abstract:
Harrods, a department store based in Britain, UK, relied on the 'Gold Card Television' home shopping program of CNBC to promote some of its high-end merchandise in a pioneering effort to tap the European market, indicated a Harrods spokesman. The spokesman explained that the interactive shopping concept is more familiar to US consumers than to European patrons. The arrangement with CNBC will require shoppers to use their credit cards to pay for the goods they asked for via a toll free number to an outsourced call center.
