How two companies came to share a name
Article Abstract:
James Gaffrig had been working with Mike Schultz right from the inception of Gaffrig Performance Industries. In between, Livorsi had entered a 2year agreement with Gaffrig over sales of a speedometer with Livorsi using the Gaffrig name for the same product. After Gaffrig's death, Livorsi extended the use of the name to other products as well and later filed for federal trademark of the name Gaffrig Precision Industries. When Schultz took over GPI from Gaffrig's wife, Livorsi and Schultz filed suit against each other for federal trademark infringement. The federal court has ruled the judgment in favor of Schultz and Livorsi marine is now renaming its products.
