Judge throws out hull patent suit against Regal
Article Abstract:
Regal Marine Industries Inc won a lawsuit filed by naval architect Harry Schoell against the company for alleged patent infringement. The lawsuit claimed that the basic geometry of Regal's step design copies patented features of Schoell's Duo Delta Conic hull, which was licensed to Larson Boats in 1989. In granting Regal's request for a summary judgment, US District Judge Patricia C. Fawsett in Orlando, FL, ruled that the firm's FasTrac hull is not an infringement of Schoell's patent.
